S. Africa: Farm attackers kick down bedroom door, exchange of gunfire saves farmer
A farm attack took place on 8 December 2022, at 23:00 at the Forest Hill sugar Estate, in the Mtubatuba area on the North Coast of the KwaZulu-Natal province in South Africa.
Private security responded to the farm after the alarm was raised with reports of shots being fired inside the home of Manna Delport.
On arrival they found two workers severely assaulted and tied up with cable ties and wire.
The workers reported that five armed attackers, wearing balaclavas, had overpowered them and after tying them up proceeded to the farmhouse where they broke a small window at the front door and opened it with a key that was still in the door.
Manna Delport woke up when he heard his door to the bedrooms been kicked in. Upon opening the door they saw Manna and shot at him four times. Manna returned fire causing the attackers to flee.
Fortunately all four shots missed.
The dog that was in the room was stabbed by one of the attackers. He was taken to the vet and is recovering.
The police are investigating but there have been no arrests.
