Disney Fires ‘Woke’ CEO Bob Chapek, Brings Back Iger to Save Struggling Company
[This is from November, but it's a great sign that this woke garbage is failing. It's wonderful this asshole was fired. Jan]
In a sensational move on Sunday night, Disney fired its “woke” CEO Bob Chapek and replaced him with his retired predecessor Bob Iger.
Chapek was booted from the company following a series of “woke” controversies that cratered Disney’s share price.
The company’s board of directors brought in Iger to “replace” Chapek Sunday night, The Wall Street Journal reported.
The move put an end to the 11-month reign of Chapek, who was once hailed as the Disney heir apparent.
Since Chapek took over Disney, the company has taken a nosedive due to his “get woke go broke” approach.
The shakeup comes as an abrupt return to power for Iger.
Prior to stepping down 11 months ago, Iger had served as Disney’s head exec for more than 15 years.
Iger, 71, had long pegged Chapek as his successor, handing him over the keys to his kingdom in February.
Before Iger finally retired, a slew of false starts saw him continue to steer the company for more than two years after announcing plans to retire – reportedly to the frustration of a waiting Chapek.
At the time, Iger, who famously caused ructions on his way out by forcefully speaking out against Florida’s parental rights bill, asserted his retirement was permanent, and that he would not return to the role.
Now, it seems as if those words were somewhat wayward, with Iger set to again take the reigns.
It comes as the company has seen share price plummet under Chapek, who earned a total salary of $26 million in 2021.
The company’s poor performance under Chapek has been blamed on a variety of factors – particularly his mishandling and subsequent support of the Florida bill, which limits discussions about “gender identity” and other adult themes in the state’s schools for students in third grade and below.
The company has also been pushing “woke” themes into its children’s movies and shows.
Disney was slammed over a lesbian kiss in the kids’ movie “Lightyear” and a transgender character buying tampons in the TV series Baymax.
The move will be a big win for Florida’s Republican Governor Ron DeSantis.
DeSantis has feuded with Disney and Chapek over the company’s meddling in Florida’s politics.
The company promoted false claims that the governor’s parental rights legislation was the “don’t-say-gay bill.”
Disney eventually lost its self-governing rights in Florida, where the company is based, due to its “woke” agenda.
