EXCELLENT: Federal Judge Grants Temporary Restraining Order Against Most of New York’s Latest Gun Grab
[Excellent stuff. I used to be in contact with GOA – Gun Owners of America, long ago. I knew Larry Pratt personally. He's a good guy. He's a Christian who is fighting for Gun Ownership in the USA. He has always done excellent work. I suspect his son is now in charge. Jan]
On October 6, 2022, Gun Owners of America (GOA) and Gun Owners (GOF) were able to obtain a temporary restraining order in federal court against the New York “Concealed Carry Improvement Act.” This restraining order came after GOA and GOF re-filing their lawsuit against the state of New York several weeks ago.
In a press release that GOA published, it listed off the provisions of the New York State gun control law that the recent TRO blocked. These provisions included the following:
Requiring businesses to openly state they ALLOW concealed carry
Disclosing one’s social media accounts for review
Prohibitions on carrying in most so-called “sensitive places,” including doctor’s offices, Times Square, restaurants and places of entertainment, and on public transportation
In-person interviews with law enforcement
The TRO went into effect this week.
Erich Pratt, GOA’s Senior Vice President previously issued the following statement:
“Anti-gunners like Kathy Hochul and Eric Adams lied and misrepresented the Second Amendment to the courts, putting New Yorkers at a great disadvantage in the midst of rising crime. We are grateful to Judge Suddaby for his quick action to restore the right of the people to keep and bear arms. Once the TRO goes into effect, GOA encourages New Yorkers to exercise their rights and to defend themselves and the ones they love.”
Sam Paredes, the treasurer of the Gun Owners Foundation, continued:
“New York doubled down to infringe on the Second Amendment in direct contradiction of the edicts from the U.S. Supreme Court. GOA and GOF are thankful to be vindicated by Judge Suddaby, who helped restore gun rights today. GOA and GOF will continue to fight for the rights of the people until Albany sets side anti-gun hysteria and supports their citizens’ unalienable right to self-defense, as guaranteed by the Second Amendment.”
New York is one of the most anti-gun states in the country. According to Guns & Ammo magazine’s best states for gun owner rankings, New York is ranked in a horrendous 51st place, making it the most anti-gun jurisdcition in the union.
A one-party state like New York will not see political change in a conventional sense. It will take a combination of lawfare and rural counties revolting against Albany’s gun grabs for the state to see the Second Amendment restored.
These trying political times require unique forms of political organization for real, pro-liberty reforms to be enacted.
