TERRIBLE: Americans filing for unemployment exceed 44 million as Trump considers expanding immigration pause

[Dreadful. What a horrific year for Americans. This is Jews at work, trying to smash the country so you don't vote for Trump. My main belief though, from my observations of the USA is that Americans can reorganise very quickly and I hope you folks can get out of your slump fast. We will have to watch the violence and Jewish nonsense to see if the Jews and communists will continue trying to destroy the USA and make it "ungovernable" into 2021, etc if Trump wins. Jan]

FRI, JUN. 12th

Another 1.5 million Americans filed for unemployment benefits for the first time last week, adding to the 43 million workers who have already filed for unemployment since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic back in March.

While last week’s number was the lowest number of new claims filed for a week since early March, showing signs of improvement, the number is still staggering and continues to exacerbate the ongoing jobs depression.

Where unemployment claims during the early weeks of the pandemic mostly impacted restaurants and other hospitality industries, the job losses have shifted to retail workers in recent weeks.

In addition, 700,000 "gig" workers filed for benefits last week. Gig workers are individuals working as contractors for peer-to-peer companies like Uber, Lyft, Door Dash, and GrubHub.

Big Biz concerned about expanded WH Action

Reports surfaced this week over concerns from the big business lobby and immigration attorneys that Pres. Trump is preparing an expansion of his April executive order that paused several green card categories for at least 60 days.

The groups said that the Trump Administration is looking to pause the H-1B high-skilled guest worker program, the H-2B lower-skilled guest worker program, the L-1 intracompany guest worker program, and parts of the J-1 foreign exchange program which provides temporary foreign workers to fill summer jobs.

With more than 44 million unemployment claims over the last 3 months, and at least 22 million jobs lost since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, there’s simply no justification to continue the importation of hundreds of thousands of foreign guest workers.

NumbersUSA has been advocating for a freeze to the H-1B, H-2B, L-1, and J-1 programs as well as:

  • and end to the Optional Practical Training (OPT) program that allows foreign students of U.S. colleges and universities to work in the U.S. for up to three years upon graduation;
  • an end to the issuance of work permits for spouses of H visa holders (H-4);
  • an end to the EB-5 investor visa program; and
  • a freeze on other discretionary programs that grant work permits to nonimmigrants

When Pres. Trump signed the proclamation pausing green cards in April, he said that the order could be expanded to cover guest worker programs. That review was supposed to happen after 30 days, but the White House has yet to make an announcement. However, the original proclamation is set to expire in only 10 days, so we do expect an announcement in the very near future.

We’ve posted a new action on your Action Board, urging Pres. Trump to continue the pause in green cards and to expand it to guest worker programs. If you haven’t sent this action, please do so today.
